History: This is where it all began! The first Gretchen’s House Child Care Center opened at this location in September, 1982. On a sunny corner lot in a quiet, cozy Westside neighborhood, this center is within walking distance of several local parks, an elementary school, and a nature area.
Meet the Director: Amanda McCreight has been with Gretchen’s house since 2007. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development with a minor in Psycholoy. Amanda has worked with children as far back as she can remember, starting in her mid-teens when she taught swim lessons to toddlers at a neighborhood pool. From there her experience includes being a Site Coordinator for a before- and after-school program, teaching in an infant/ toddler room, being a Program Director for an in-home child care and, most recently, Program Director at GH-Traver. In her spare time Amanda enjoys taking walks with her young son and dog Odin, spending time with friends and family, diving into a good book, and spending time at her parent’s lake house.
