Shannon Steinbach – Director
Hello. My name is Shannon Steinbach and I am the Director of Gretchen’s House in Chelsea. I have been working in Early Child Education for almost 30 years, the last 24 in Chelsea. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. I am married to a wonderful man, Dave, and have two grown children; Sean and Tracy. I enjoy reading, gardening and spending time at the lake relaxing with my family and friends.

Michelle Ashley – Lead Teacher
Michelle has worked at Gretchen’s House in Chelsea since it opened in the fall of 2012. She began working in the child care field shortly after graduating from high school, including eleven years in Chelsea. She received her CDA Certificate in 2007 after taking classes at Washtenaw Community College. Michelle lives in Chelsea with her husband, Alan, and their son Joshua (14), who will be a freshman at Chelsea High in the fall of 2016. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys going to craft shows, country music and being around family and friends.
Hello! My name is Sherrie Springer. I began working for Gretchen’s House- Chelsea School-age Program in September of 2013. I am also employed by the University of Michigan MedSport, where I am a Certified/Licensed Athletic Trainer, and work in our Orthopedic Surgery and Physical Therapy Clinic. I have worked at the University for the past 24 years. Previously, I spent over ten years working in college athletics. I received my Bachelor of Science degree at Indiana University- Bloomington and my Masters of Science degree from the University of Arizona- Tucson. In addition to my athletic training coursework, I was teacher trained in Health and Safety Education and the Biological Sciences. I belong to many professional organizations related to the athletic training profession. Personally, I have one son, Chris Boyd. In my free time, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
P.S And yes, Shannon Steinbach is my “little” sister.
Hello, my name is Ana and I’m happy to join the Gretchen’s House staff. I’ve been working with children since I was 18 years old. I’m a kindergarten and elementary school teacher. I majored in Library Science and I volunteer at the Chelsea District Library delivering books to the Chelsea Retirement Community. I am married and have two sons, one is a MSU sophomore and the other is in 8th grade. I enjoy cooking all kinds of foods and desserts, and walking with our golden retriever, Chewbacca.

Anne Wilber – Assistant Director
Hello! My name is Anne Wilber. I have been married to my husband, Kevin, since 1985. We have two beautiful grown children, Megan and Eric. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University and obtained a teaching certificate in Elementary Education. I worked at the Chelsea Community Hospital Children’s Center for 14 years before coming to Gretchen’s House in 2013. I enjoy teaching and spending time with children, and watching them grow and develop.
My name is Carol Williams and I’m excited to be joining the staff at Gretchen’s House and to be working with children again. I worked at the Children’s Center in Chelsea for twenty-four years until it closed in 2012. I have three grown children and four grandchildren. I enjoy reading and spending time with family and friends.
Pamela Thompson has a degree in BBA from Sienna Heights University and a AAS from Jackson Community College as well as teacher certificates for Georgia and Michigan. Pamela has experience as a substitute teacher for several schools. Pamela enjoys reading, being creative, helping others and learning.
Hi, I’m Tara Holmberg. I have a Bachelor of Nursing from Eastern Michigan University. I’m in my 9th year working in Education. This is my first year at Gretchen’s House. I have four children; Macy, Kelsey, Chloe and Nathan and two dogs; Ranger and Tonto. I enjoy watching movies, reading and front porch sitting with my husband, Kristian.

Joyce Rayburn – Lead Teacher
Lead Teacher Joyce Rayburn has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Western Michigan University. Joyce comes to Gretchen’s House with experience from working in small day cares, volunteering for summer programs and completing internships in a Head Start and in a 1st grade classroom. In her spare time, Joyce loves to read, go camping, and spend time outside.
