On January 3, 2022, we re-opened at our original location in the High Point Building!
Open: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Programs: Full-day care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
History: In the fall of 1990, the Washtenaw Intermediate School District asked Gretchen to open a Gretchen’s House center at High Point School on Wagner Road. The center is open to all members of the community; enrollment is not limited to families of WISD employees. GH-W.I.S.D. is a modern, attractive facility and shares some spaces with Honey Creek Charter School and High Point, including a spacious gym, a gathering area, and small group rooms for special activities. Outdoor spaces include two separate playgrounds, wide open fields for walks, and beautiful gardens for exploration and discovery. In 2020 the construction began on the building at WISD and we moved our programs to the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor.
Meet Our Director:
Eva-Marie Hatfield started working at Gretchen’s House in February, 2007 where she filled the role as center Director at Little Huskies, our center that is located on the campus of Michigan Tech University. Eva has a bachelor’s degree in Social Science/Sociology with an emphasis in education and 22 years experience in the early childhood field. Eva recently moved from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and in her free time enjoys camping on the shores of Lake Superior and spending time with her husband and their three daughters.
Please note – when housed in the W.I.S.D facilities: this center varies from the other Ann Arbor Gretchen’s Houses on a few important points: tuition and the inclement weather policy.
We’d love to talk to you about our center!
If you have any questions regarding enrollment or would like a tour at this Center, please contact Our Administrative Offices via email, or contact the director at
(We will not share your information with anyone, ever.) We are usually able to respond to inquiries within one business day. Thanks for your interest in Gretchen’s House!
