Open: 7:15 a.m. — 5:45 p.m.
Programs: Full-day care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
History: In the fall of 1990, the Washtenaw Intermediate School District asked Gretchen to open a Gretchen’s House center at High Point School on Wagner Road. The center is open to all members of the community; enrollment is not limited to families of WISD employees. GH-W.I.S.D. is a modern, attractive facility and shares some spaces with Honey Creek Charter School and High Point, including a spacious gym, a gathering area, and small group rooms for special activities. Outdoor spaces include two separate playgrounds, wide open fields for walks, and beautiful gardens for exploration and discovery.
Meet Our Director: W.I.S.D. Director Beth Renner began working at Gretchen’s House in 1995 after earning an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Washtenaw Community College. Beth has worked as a teacher in infant/toddler, preschool and school-age classrooms. She earned a bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate from Eastern Michigan University and taught kindergarten through third grade at Honey Creek Community School. Beth returned to Gretchen’s House in 2007 and brought her two children with her. In Fall, 2010, she became a program director at GH-Oak Valley, and in Spring 2012 she was promoted to Director of W.I.S.D. In her free time she enjoys reading, the outdoors and listening to a variety of music.
Please note: Because it is located with the W.I.S.D. facilities, this house varies from the other Ann Arbor Gretchen’s Houses on a few important points: tuition and the inclement weather policy.
We’d love to talk to you about our center!
