History
GH Oak Valley, which opened in 1998, is the first center that Gretchen built from the ground up. To give it a home-like, cozy feeling, the building has several “pods” of classrooms each centered around their own living space and kitchen as well as a designated children’s garden. It also has a large gym for large muscle play and special events. There are three playgrounds: one for infants and toddlers, and two for preschoolers that includes winding bike paths and an antique playhouse. This center is located on the edge of several newer neighborhoods which are linked by footpaths and parks through a wooded area. It is next to two popular sports facilities: Wide World of Sports and the Ice Cube. In addition, one of the Ann Arbor District Library’s newest branches opened across the street in 2006.
