Sometimes the word “daycare” evokes images of a place where children primarily pass the time while their parents are at work. At Gretchen’s House, we refer to ourselves as child care centers because we are focused on the child, not just getting through the day. Gretchen’s House is a place where children develop and thrive!

What makes us different from an average daycare? Our child care programs feature child-centered, emergent curriculum for children of all ages. Our teachers have college degrees in early childhood or a related field. Our child care centers are not only licensed by the State of Michigan, we are also accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, a consortium of early childhood professionals whose accreditation program certifies high-quality early childhood programs. We use HighScope’s research-based assessment tools to track children’s physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development.
